Two burglars have been jailed after stealing cash, jewellery and electrical items, and plotting another burglary.

Edward Hayes, 33, of Newchurch Road, Slough, and Michael Francis, 39, of no fixed abode, were spotted by officers on patrol running along Cherry Tree Road on September 7.

Officers then followed the pair and arrested them in Farnham Park Lane.

Hayes and Francis were found with a screwdriver, crowbar and socks, which were believed to be used to put over their hands. They were arrested on suspicion of going equipped to steal and charged on September 8.

During their sentencing, one other burglary of a business was taken into consideration for Hayes and two other burglaries of businesses were taken into consideration for Francis.

Cash, jewellery and electrical items were stolen in one of the burglaries, which took place on September 5.

Hayes was sentenced to 27 months behind bar after pleading guilty to one count of going equipped to steal and two counts of burglary, and Francis was jailed for 40 months after pleading guilty to one count of going equipped to steal and three counts of burglary.

“It cannot be under estimated the impact that someone breaking into your home.

“We will continue to investigate burglary and obtain justice for victims.”
