Windsor Mencap is getting closer to moving into its new home after four years of homelessness.

This week its new building was craned onto the site adjoining the recently completed Castle View Retirement Village on Helston Lane.

Windsor Mencap, which is run on a 100 per cent voluntary basis, has been based on Helston Lane for over 40 years. But with its previous building becoming ever more derelict, supporters were delighted to be able to work with Robin Hughes and his team at Castle View Retirement Living in the providing of a brand-new facility.

To be known as The Hub the new building is due to open next March, providing an expanded service to people with learning disabilities, as well as a facility for other charity and community users.

Windsor Mencap is seeking volunteers to help deliver these new services by running groups or helping with administration .
