A well-known local musician, who has embarked on an ambitious 24-year project composing Christmas music, will be conducting a concert of seasonal songs at Windsor’s Old Court arts centre on Tuesday, December 11.

Composer, conductor and teacher, Dr Guy Bunce is music director of Windsor Soundswell Choir which will be holding its first professional concert in the Old Court.

Members of the community choir, which celebrated its 10th anniversary this year, are looking forward to sharing their enjoyment in singing with a varied programme of well-loved carols, more unusual seasonal songs from around the world, and a contemporary carol composed by Guy.

Guy leads choirs in Maidenhead and Egham, as well as in Windsor, and has written music for concert and films. He is also in the sixth year of a marathon 24-year project writing a single piano solo, based on an existing Christmas carol, each year which will eventually make up a musical advent calendar.

The choir’s accompanist Ingrid Attwater, from Ascot, is also an accomplished musician who has played at the South Bank, has given solo recitals at summer festivals, music societies and other venues, and recently performed with the Coburg Piano Trio in Sunbury.

Windsor Soundswell Choir, which has 40 members, welcomes men and women to join them at their Tuesday evening rehearsals, held at Trinity St Stephen Primary School, in Vansittart Road, Windsor. No experience or auditions are required and details can be found on their website www.windsorsoundswell.co.uk

Tickets for their concert on December 11 cost £10 and are available from the Old Court (01753 911333); www.oldcourt.org/sales; Windsor Tourist Office or at the
