A man from Slough faces charges of grievous bodily harm, violent disorder and possessing an offensive weapon after being arrested on suspicion of involvement in a violent attack that left six men with serious injuries in a small Surrey village.

The attack on Wednesday last week led to a massive police hunt that saw Przemyslaw Piwonia, 40, from the Manor Park area of Slough, being arrested the following day. He was charged yesterday.

Armed men are understood to have burst into an outbuilding at the back of the Forman Institute in Blindley Heath, a village three miles from Godstone.

They are believed to have been heavily armed with knives, baseball bats and wearing balaclavas.

Residents have described hearing motorbikes riding up to the site and police were called to the spot just after 7.30pm.

It is believed as many as 13 men may have been involved in the attack before leaving the scene on motorbikes.

Officers are still looking for a number of other people in connection with the incident.

The attack left six men with serious injuries. A seventh man was also injured.

Two of the victims are still in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Mr Piwonia faces six counts of grievous bodily harm, one of assault causing actual bodily harm and one of being in possession of an offensive weapon.

He was due to appear in Staines magistrates court this morning but this afternoon still had not appeared.
