WINDSOR is gearing up for its second royal wedding this year - as Princess Eugenie prepares to marry fiance Jack Brooksbank in St George's Chapel on Friday, October 12.

Visitors will be able to watch the short carriage procession along the route which will take the newly married couple down Castle Hill, onto the High Street and Park Street and then back into Windsor Castle via Cambridge Gate.

Crowd control barriers will be put in place from midnight the previous night but public footpaths will remain open.

There will be a number of extra toilets points on the Long Walk between the Park Street and Brook Street entrances, as well as first aid points on Peascod Street, Park Street and River Street car park.

A full list of road closures will be announced later, applying from midnight until mid-afternoon. Closures already announced affect Castle Hill, High Street, Park Street, River Street, Sheet Street, St Albans Street and Thames Street.

Parking will also be suspended on the roads forming the procession route and on a number of adjoining roads for the wedding day. Residents affected by this who display a parking permit will be able to park at Victoria Street multi-story car park from 6pm on Thursday, October 11 until 6pm on Friday.

Cllr Phill Bicknell, Royal Borough cabinet member for highways, transport and Windsor, said: “As a Windsorian I am hugely proud we have the opportunity to welcome the royal wedding of Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank to our town.

“Preparations are well underway to make the town look its best and ensure everyone can enjoy this happy occasion. We’re working very closely with a wide range of partners to help make it a safe and joyous occasion.

“As a royal town it is part of who we are to play host to national and international events just like the royal wedding. We know some of the preparations involved may cause short-term disruption and we thank residents and businesses for their patience in the lead up to, during and after the event."

Eugenie is the Queen's granddaughter. Her parents are the Duke of York and his former wife Sarah, Duchess of York.
