AN EXCITING new spectacle that will allow civilian 'white collar' boxers to pitch their skills against veteran armed forces fighters will be launched next year at Windsor Leisure Centre.

Boxing for Veterans is the idea of white collar boxer and dad of two Terry Reed, 32, from Bracknell and businessman and grandfather of two Clinton Montague, 56, from Ascot.

White collar boxers are men and women in white collar professions who fight at special events.

They are growing in number and the idea behind Boxing for Veterans is to pit 'veterans' who have served in the armed forces against 'civilians' who have not while raising money for a veterans' charity of their choice.

Mr Reed and Mr Montague have set up a business to run the events and the first at Windsor on February 16 next year will be at the leisure centre in Stovell Road.

Mr Montague emphasises that Boxing for Veterans is not a charity. But the boxers taking part will be raising money for veterans' charities themselves with each competitor having a Just Giving page.

He said: "Boxers are signing up now to have time to train and be ready, so if you are up for it, go for it. Subject to a ‘matching up process’ a civilian will box a veteran so whether you are a regular boxer for a club or just fancy a go and help raise some money for the well-deserved veteran charities sign up now.

"Each event will host a range of boxing bouts; we anticipate a minimum of twenty per event, so you will be entertained."
