A high speed car chase through the centre of Eton Wick shook the calm of a quiet Monday afternoon today.
Five police cars pursued a vehicle - possibly a Vauxhall Zafira - through the village at about 3pm.
The chase continued almost into Eton, before the driver veered round into Meadow Lane in the direction of the Swan Sanctuary.
A driver who pulled over to avoid the cars as they came up behind him near Bunces Close told the Observer he thought the cars were going at between 70mph to 75 mph.
A police spokesman has confirmed that a number of people were arrested following the pursuit.
He said: "A vehicle was seen to be driven dangerously at around 3pm this afternoon near Dorney.
"Following a short pursuit, a number of people have been arrested on suspicion of taking a motor vehicle without consent.
"The driver has also been arrested for dangerous driving, failing to stop and failing to provide a drugs and breath test."
