A FANTASTICAL, fabulous show had the audience toe-tapping, clapping and singing last night (Thursday) as the wonderful world of the Shermans hit the stage of the Theatre Royal Windsor, writes Paul Thomas.

A Spoonful of Sherman is a dynamite knock your socks off musical recounting numbers from a centenary of songwriting as we relive the dynamic Disney songs we grew up with a still love, with all the words engrained in our hearts.

The Sherman brothers, Robert B and Richard M, their father Al and Robert’s son, Robert J Sherman have now completed a century of songwriting which is heralded in this wonderful musical, A Spoonful of Sherman which ends its short run tomorrow (Saturday).

This is a mesmerising musical stage show for all the family, celebrating the life and music of the multi award-winning Disney songwriters the Sherman Brothers who wrote for Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Jungle Book, Winnie the Pooh, and The Aristocats so go on a journey through the songbook of your childhood.

Hits include Let’s Go Fly A Kite, It’s A Small World (After All), I Wanna Be Like You, The Ugly Bug Ball, Comes A-Long A-Love, You’re Sixteen, Feed The Birds, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, a firm favourite of mine, Hushabye Mountain, A Spoonful Of Sugar, and my personal anthem, The Wonderful Thing About Tiggers.

Heap on that songs from The Slipper and The Rose and many more and you have the stuf od dreams.

It stars Olivier Award-nominated Sophie-Louise Dann (Gary Barlow’s The Girls Musical).

Her voice is stunning, simply sensational.

And when you bring in Glen Facey (Hairspray), Jenna Innes (Animus), Mark Read (Boyband A1, Guys and Dolls) and Ben Stock (Beauty and the Beast) you have a family match made in heaven.

This is a consummate and contagiously catchy musical as we romp through the words we were largely brought up on.

The singing and choreography is reminiscent of the great days of Disney, film, stage and radio.

This is a truly scrumptious way to spend and evening.

A Spoonful of Sherman is simply sensational.

Ditch the tellybox and fly on down to the 'Royal' for a right royal romp through some of the best songs you'll ever hear.
