Villagers boogied on the green at Datchet on Saturday - and all the entertainment was home grown.

Village based bands The Choice, Alternatives and the Riots played, while Datchet based restaurant Nibbles provided the food.

Nibbles was celebrating 21 years in the village - and so was Datchet Village Society, making the event a double celebration.

There was circus skills training and a Punch and Judy show provided by the entertainers Juggle Puppet, plus inflatable games fun for the children provided by the village branch of the British Legion and Windsor St George Rotary Club.

Parish councillor Kate Fitzgerald who organised the event said: “It rained for the first half an hour the barbecue was on but once it stopped a lot of people came out. It showed Datchet at its best, vibrant as ever on the historic village green.”

The serious side of keeping a village running smoothly was shown by members of the Parish Council and other volunteers who answered questions about the Datchet Village Plan.
