A WOMAN from Windsor has completed 24 peaks in 24 hours, to raise money for charity.

Linda Foster, of Prince Consort Cottages, Windsor, was part of The Encore Personnel ‘24 Peak’ team, with saw 12 people across the country complete 24 of the Lake District’s toughest peaks last month.

The team raised £10,000 for the British Heart Foundation and Cruse Bereavement.

The team began with a 2,477ft ascent of Bowfell, near Wasdale, and made good progress to climb three peaks in the first three hours in a mix of typical British weather.

After 21 hours the final three peaks were in sight and the team completed the challenge with 90 minutes to spare before retiring back to Keswick for a ‘well-earned pint or two’.

Miss Foster said that the challenge was gruelling but gave a huge sense of achievement come the end.

She said: “It was a real slog and a huge challenge for us all. We had a good team spirit and that was very important to help us all get through it.

“We felt great come the end, and we felt as though we’d really achieved something good for the charities that were chosen by members of our company.

“We do big charity events every year, so we’re already excited to see what next year’s challenge will be.”
