THE process of the rebuilding a street devastated by fire has begun.
Alan Bussey, the owner of grade II-listed building no. 9 Park Street, has submitted a planning application to rebuild the home ripped apart by the fire on May 7.
The proposal seek to restore the building to the same design approved under previous consented planning applications - a number of which had been submitted since August 2011 as part of renovation work at the house.
Mr Bussey said: "We have to start from the very beginning again and this is the first step. It won't be as good as it was as you cannot replicate what was there before, but we want to get as close as possible." Mr Bussey also intends to use the house as his family home.
A decision is to be made on the proposal by July 29 with Mr Bussey hoping to start work as soon as possible after.
Around 250,000 was spent by Mr Bussey on renovation work before the vast majority of the building was either destroyed by the fire or subsequently torn down for safety reasons.
The Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service are yet to reveal the outcome of an probe into the cause of the fire with investigation work still being carried out.
