THE Olympic Torch passing through the Royal Borough in July last year, cost the council �38,000, a Freedom of Information request has revealed.

Marshalling, fencing and security, bunting and decorations and parking suspensions were the major contributing factors to the overall cost.

The Royal Borough received �285,000 in income from government agencies to offset costs involved in having the Olympic and Paralympic Games on their doorstep, with rowing events taking place at Dorney Lake.
