THE ROYAL seal of approval has been given to a two-year project.

The Earl of Wessex visited Windsor and Eton this morning to see the results of the Diamond Jubilee Windsor and Eton Facelift 2012 project.

The scheme, initiated in 2010 by the Windsor and Eton Society, resulted in more than 160 public spaces and commercial and residential buildings in the towns undergoing refurbishment or enhancement for The Queen's Diamond Jubilee last year.

After the walkabout in High Street, Eton, and Thames Street and Goswell Road, Windsor, HRH Prince Edward presented awards during a ceremony at the Castle Hotel, in High Street, Windsor, to the projects judged to have undergone the best refurbishments in three categories - commercial building, public building and public realm.

Goswells Walkway and the Jubilee Fountain was chosen as the overall winner.
