THIS year’s festival has been a great success!
This column was planned to be a piece on the highpoints of the Outside:Inside, but after hours of whittling down to my top 50! I realised there were far too many to mention in 300 words.
So instead I look back to the real heroes of Reading, the many friends behind the scenes making this happen. Raise your glass to the Outside:Inside team:
Ahmad Cheeban, he MC’ed, he gave us his venue to turn into a festival site and he worked tirelessly to add the sweetest cherry to our event this year.
Jon Cox, our tech director. If anything needed building, fixing, engineering or designing, he was there.
The Shout About Film team, Ian Manson and Paul Hamer. In our first year celebrating local film output these guys managed to put together a most stellar line-up consisting of the most impressive independent film directors the country boasts.
Luisa Garcia, the PR guru. She spun and sweet talked and got the Outside:Inside heard, reported and respected by local and national press.
Brian McClafferty, venue and staffing manager. Did you notice the beautifully friendly staff and the vast array of venues? DJ Derek in Mango, Jaymo and Andy George in Q Club. Nuff said.
Suzanne Stallard, the director of arts organisation Jelly and her Jelly Artpad. Tea, scones, cookies, coffee! And all the fantastic contributed art.
Guy Douglas, Reading UK CIC’s BID manager, didn’t just support this event, he got his hands dirty all right! Music and art quite obviously make this man tick. With his vision, this town will become celebrated, as it should, for being great for many years to come.
All the staff: Bexx, Katie, Taz, Rory, James, Rob, Bob, Kerry, Aidan, Esther, Kat & Smiley Dave
And finally Tim Hooper. What can I say about the number two? Perhaps that he is more like the number one. He drove the van, he worked all day, all night, he managed the site, the staffed. He DJ’ed, he tweeted, eff-bee’d and blogged, he bribed and booked with barbies, and most importantly he organised me.
THANK YOU!
