WHILE never a hardened festival goer myself, 2010 had me thrown straight into the world that is ‘the music festival’ at Guilfest complete with sun, sudden rain and wellie burn.
As Reading Festival looms I can only hope that I’ve learnt enough to survive the bank holiday weekend.
Baby wipes are great shower substitutes so remember to pack plenty of them. Instead of having to trudge to rather dubious looking showers with long queues, it leaves you feeling fresh without having to leave your camp. It’s a lot more fun and a great deal safer camping in a group too; it’s not the best idea to be wandering around alone. And a note to campers, there are alternatives to destroying your tent; if you really don’t want to take it home with you, there is a donation scheme. Campers can hand in their undamaged tents to Green Messengers.
Essentially, there are so many things going on, from the Alternative Stage and the BBC Introducing Stage to the late night cinema and silent disco, don’t be afraid to try something different.
So roll on Reading Festival 2010, my strawberry patterned wellies and I are (somewhat) prepared for what lies ahead.
