FOUR of Reading's favourite bands will be lighting up the BBC Introducing Stage at this year's Reading Festival.

The BBC Introducing Stage is returning to the festival for the third year running and aims to promote talented new bands and musicians, and this year Amy's Ghost, Mr Fogg, Midimidis and Peers have been chosen to perform.

Haunting Amy's Ghost and electro pop Mr Fogg are hitting the stage on Friday, August 27.

Amy Barton, front woman of Amy's Ghost said: "We applied for so many festivals this year and were a little bit like it would have been nice to get Reading.

"It's a huge compliment to be asked especially since we've only been together for a year.

"We're going to go all out. I believe that it's about more than the performance. We're calling all our fans to be part of a little tribe before we go on. We have to make the most of it and I've got a fabulous outfit planned."

On Saturday, August 28, Midimidis, made up of brothers-in-law from Reading, will treat audiences to their buzzy eighties-indie-pop music.

Sunday, August 29, will see newcomers Peers, who only formed in January this year, bounce onto the stage.

The successful bands bagged themselves a slot on the stage after being recommended by their local BBC introducing radio show team.
