WINDSOR & Eton FC boss Dave Mudge has secured two more signings this week and is locked in talks with three more players as he looks to put the finishing touches on his squad for the Southern Premier campaign.
Powerful central defender Ryan Bernard put pen to paper on Tuesday evening after impressing in the Royalists' 2-0 win over Bedfont Town. And Sam Wadieh, who played alongside Bernard at the heart of the Windsor defence in their first two friendlies, has also pledged himself to the club for next season.
Bernard, who turns 25 next week, spent time at Beaconsfield SYCOB last season and has previously played under assistant manager Byron Walton at Aylesbury.
Mudge believes he could prove a big signing for the club.
He said: "We identified Ryan as a player for the future. He played against Slough and against Bedfont Town and we were very impressed with him.
"He is a player with a bit of experience but who also has the potential to get better and become a big player for Windsor.
"That is why we offered him a contract and he agreed to it on Tuesday evening.
"We are delighted he has pledged himself to us for next season."
The Windsor boss also believes Sam Wadieh, who can play in midfield or at the back, will make an impact.
He said: "He has spent some time at Grimsby and is a very good player. He usually plays central midfield, but has played well at centre back in two games for us.
"He is a local lad and that is what we are trying to do at the club, bring through and promote as many locally based players as possible."
Elsewhere Mudge is also hoping to announce more new signings in the very near future, but is keeping tight-lipped on those for the time being.
He added: "We have offered three other players contracts this week and we hope to have some news on that soon."
Attention now turns to Saturday's game at Windsor Boys' School against Maidenhead United for the Royalists' next friendly.
Mudge said: "I don't know what Drax (Johnson Hippolyte) is thinking about the game, but I'd expect him to be putting out pretty much a full strength side.
"I will be looking to do the same, but unfortunately have six or seven players unavailable.
"Dave Woozely, Dave Pearce, Tom McNeil and Luke Bell are all unavailable. Matt Seedel and Rob Bullivant are still a way off and Jemel Johnson has picked up a bit of a knock.
"I have two triallists with Football League experience, so it will be a good chance to have a look at them and see where they are at."
The match will also see Windsor go head to head with former manager Simon Lane, who joined the Magpies as a coach this week.
