WINDSOR & Eton did what they had to do to give themselves a chance of clinching the Southern League Division One South & West championship on Monday by beating Bracknell Town.

Title challengers AFC Totton thrashed Taunton Town 8-1 on Saturday which meant the Royalists had to get maximum points and they did at the weekend by winning 5-1 at Larges Lane.

That means that the final match of the division will see Windsor needing three points to finish above Totton at the top of the table.

VT FC stand in their way of automatic promotion and the south coast club have already secured fourth place no matter the result and will be in a midweek play-off semi-final - something Windsor and Totton will be keen to avoid.

Windsor took 34 minutes to open the scoring at Bracknell on Saturday through Steve Butler.

Adam Dickens doubled their advantage before Trannell Richardson netted in the 46th minute to halve the deficit.

However, nerves were settled by a brace from former Totton and Bracknell forward Nathan Jack before Dickens scored his second late on.
