KEITH Scott has called for the Southern League to extend the season on health and safety grounds.
The Royalists had their trip to Bishops Cleeve postponed on Saturday and the wet weather also meant their home clash with VTFC on Tuesday did not go ahead.
The season is due to finish on Saturday, April 24 but it is looking increasingly difficult to fulfil the fixtures by then.
"The Southern League have got to look at this seriously and think about extending the season," remarked Scott.
"We have still got to play the VT game and they haven't got a spare before April 24. They are playing Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursay and then Saturday and Sunday the week after - it's ridiculous to do that.
"I can see why last (Tuesday) night's game was called off by the referee for health and safety reasons because it was dangerous for the players on a waterlogged pitch.
"By the same token you are asking players to play three games in four days and for me that is a health and safety issue. Professionals wouldn't and players at this level are not conditioned the same as professionals and have to go to work as well.
"If they don't extend the season they are seriously threatening health and safety, I think it will be dangerous.
"It's a difficult situation for all teams to be in."
However, Scott is not convinced that the league will extend the season but will instead ask teams to play on consecutive days.
He added: "The Southern League should extend the season, particularly in the South & West Division but I don't know that they will.
"If they can get away with not extending it I think they will because they will want to get it finished by the 24th.
"I hope they do extend it though because if they don't it's a disgrace."
Having had their last two matches postponed, AFC Totton have taken full advantage by winning their last two fixtures, securing an excellent 1-0 triumph at Cirencester Town on Saturday and then a fine 3-2 victory at Paulton Rovers on Monday evening.
That means that Totton still have a game in hand and have closed the gap to four points with the Royalists due to go the south coast on Saturday, April 10.
"I was saying all along that they had the capability of winning all their games in hand and that's what they are doing," commented Scott.
Before that Windsor are due to 'host' tenants Bedfont Green at Stag Meadow tomorrow (Saturday) weather permitting with Totton at home to VT before making the short trip to Gosport Borough on Easter Monday.
Totton also go to Bridgwater Town on Wednesday so by the time the top two clash, they could well be ahead of the Royalists, leaving them to play catch up for the first time this campaign.

i think someone's feeling the pressure. Why doesnt he just keep quiet. I'm certain that this will transmit to the players...
