Michael Chennells scored but it was in vain.
KEITH Scott put Windsor & Eton's first league defeat of the season, a 2-1 loss at Bridgwater Town, down to a 'bad day at the office'.
The Royalists had gone 32 Southern League Division One South & West games without suffering a defeat but in probably their toughest game left this season - barring the trip to title rivals AFC Totton - they went down in the west country thanks to a Jamie Price brace with Michael Chennells grabbing what proved to be nothing more than a consolation.
Unusually Windsor started with just their top scorer up front and with five in midfield, however, they did have the better of the opening exchanges at Fairfax Park.
Chennells shot just wide of the upright before Price headed Bridgwater in front from a corner in the 36th minute.
The home sides advantage was nearly doubled moments later when Chris Young's lob hit the top of the bar.
Ten minutes into the second half Bridgwater were two up after Price found space in the box and fired home.
However, it was game on again in the 58th minute when Chennells netted.
Windsor pressed for an equaliser but it did not arrive.
Manager Keith Scott commented: "Whether we were unbeaten in the league or not I'm always disappointed to lose a game.
"Walking into the changing rooms at the end of the game and looking into the players faces, they were probably more disappointed than me.
"On the day we felt disappointed with the two goals, we got punished as we defended differently to normally," added the boss.
"We put pressure on them afterwards but couldn't get back into the game.
"It was just a bad day at the office, these things happen."
