BOSS Keith Scott has urged his Windsor & Eton players to concentrate on winning the league rather than trying to be the Non-League invincibles.

The Royalists made it 32 unbeaten in the league this season with a 2-1 triumph against Gosport Borough on Tuesday night but Scott is only focused on winning the league now and going up as champions.

"At the beginning of the season, although we were instilled as favourites along with Totton, my objective was to secure a top five spot which we did theoretically when we reached 73 points, 76 definitely," explained Scott.

"Once we've achieved the top five spot our next objective is to win the league and along with the players our objective is to now to try to win the league.

"We've got to try to secure that first, if we get to a point if we've secured the league and are still unbeaten then yes we would want to finish unbeaten and I'm sure the players are thinking about it.

"The first thing now is we must not get wrapped up in the unbeaten thing," cautioned the boss who did admit it would be a remarkable thing to happen. He said: "At professional level it is a great achievement but at Non League level it is a greater achievement because you get midweek games after players have got to work and travel to places.

"Once you start thinking about it your mind wanders and your focus changes and once you start doing that you make mistakes.

"There are lots of things to achieve this season. I played here when the side went 24 games unbeaten so we've eclipsed that, I think we have the best defence out of all of the leagues down to our level, we've conceded the least amount of goals, we are now 31 games unbeaten.

"People are talking about an unbeaten run, now maybe the 100 points so there are lots of things we can achieve but the most important thing is to win the league.

"But we cannot think about all of that, the most important thing is the next game.

"They are all intelligent guys in the dressing room and they will be aware of it but we don't come in and talk about it.

"Totton will be going into it having to play, Saturday, Tuesday, Thursday and they might well win them so it might take 100 points to win the league.

"You never know, I remember when I was at Wycombe and we finished level on points with Colchester in the Conference, we both had 94 points and we got done on goal difference. We are only going to win the league when teams can't catch us."
