WINDSOR & Eton were given a boost by Andrew Fagan's return from injury after it was initially feared that he may be out for the season.

The defender came off the bench in Saturday's 4-0 win over Paulton Rovers and started on Tuesday night against Gosport Borough.

"Andrew is back now which is like signing a new player because at first we feared he would be out for the season," said manager Keith Scott.

"Dave Woozley was always going to come in as we needed more centre-halves.

"Dave was on my radar at the beginning of the season when he was released by Farnborough but he went to Staines (Town). The manager that took him to Charshalton (Athletic) has got the sack.

"The big issue was that he was dropping down a level but hopefully, touch wood, he can be going back up again and be part of the long term future of the club.

"Anyone I bring in is for the long term benefit for the club and if we go up, Dave Woozley has that experience and has played in a pressure environment, in teams that want to win something. He will be a massive asset to us.

"It does mean that I can rest people now and if I want to shut up shop and put Ryan Wharton alongside Matty Seedel we can play effectively with six defenders.

"Scotty Thomas is going to be training next Thursday as well and Adam Dickens is ill so we will have to see how he is but it means we are going into the final stages with potentially everybody back so I'm absolutely over the moon about it."

Scott believes there is a lot more to come from the players that have arrived during the season.

"I do think that our fitness levels are excellent because of the greater amount of pre-season training we do but I look at Dave Woozley, Marcus Richardson and Nathan Jack will be better next season when they have a pre-season under their belts with us," he commented.

"Gavin (Smith) is getting better but we knew he hadn't played for a while because he broke his hand. He needed game time but he has played very well.

"He's a very unselfish player, he is a team player, when the ball goes into him he looks after it so well. He has the ability to give our defence a little bit of a breather and his lay-offs are very good but again he hasn't done pre-season so I think next season we will see an even better Gavin Smith."
