THE displays and consistency of Bruce Wilson have meant that Windsor & Eton have not missed Paul Coyne since he joined Burnham in the summer insists manager Keith Scott.

Coyne had been a talisman for the Royalists in the past few years but Wilson has impressed and given them a different option to the mercurial Coyne.

"At the beginning of the season when Coyney left and people were saying to me 'how are you going to replace him?' It didn't bother me because I knew over the course of the season Bruce Wilson would give us so much more week-in, week-out in terms of performances," explained Scott.

"I think Paul Coyne is a marvellous footballer and sees things that other people don't see but if you talk about complete footballer and what you are going to get over the course of 40 to 50 games then Bruce Wilson will give you so much more."

Wilson capped yet another all-action display on Saturday with a wonder striker from fully 35 yards and the boss knew he was capable of scoring a free-kick from that distance.

He remarked: "When I was at Leighton Town as manager there was Bruce, Andrew Fagan and Scotty Thomas as well. It doesn't matter where you play Bruce, he is a top quality player.

"He is 26 but if he was 21/22, he would be in the league because he never gives the ball away, he's comfortable playing where ever. When he's running up to hit it, there's not many others where you think this has got a chance of going in, no disrespect to the others.

"I thought he was top class today (Saturday), I really did and it was a great strike that put the seal on it. It was just a question of if we could get any more and you never know, goal difference may make the difference at the end of the season.

"He's got great energy and he just doesn't give the ball away. He's a fantastic player to have in our side because he can create things, he has the ability to do that and has great energy levels so he can drive forward into the box but when it breaks down he's the first one back making the challenges.

"He's such a complete player for us and I have every confidence if I play him right wing, striker or at the back he will play well. It doesn't matter where he plays, his level of consistency is fantastic."
