WINDSOR & Eton have sent an official letter applying for Ryman Premier League status for next season providing they gain promotion.

The Royalists are top of the Southern League Division One South & West at the moment but are not counting their chickens, only assessing their options and the possibility of switching across which of course is not guaranteed.

Should they reach the Premier Division, travel wise, it would appear to make much more sense to play in the Ryman League and is likely to increase the number of visiting fans to Stag Meadow.

Chairman Peter Simpson confirmed after Saturday's impressive 4-0 victory over third placed Paulton Rovers that he had written to both the Zamaretto Southern League and Ryman Isthmian League.

He commented: "I have written to both the Southern League and the Ryman League, The Ryman League said they would welcome us with open arms and it is our spiritual home. I have not heard back from the Southern League as yet."
