Michael Chennells was on target again.

Football

THE prolific Michael Chennells continued his fine form as he got the ball rolling in Windsor & Eton's 2-0 win at Yate Town.

It was a typical poachers goal from Chennells, his sixth in his last three appearances, which opened the scoring and Jake Parsons secured an excellent three points on the road.

"I thought it was an excellent win to be fair," commented boss Keith Scott. "We were very professional in what we did. If you look at Yate's results at home they've had some good results against the top teams, significantly beating (AFC) Totton.

"It was a tricky game but we were excellent, very professional and it was a hard working performance."

After just 10 minutes Chennells put the visitors in front when he pounced after Josh Dempsey had saved Gavin Smith's effort to net his 25th of the campaign.

Moments later, Yate were nearly level when Steve Butler was caught in possession by Mark Reynolds but he was denied by Rob Bullivant.

The two sides continued to exchange chances as Chennells should have helped himself to a second but side footed a Jake Parsons cross wide before Reynolds hit the bar after good work by Jason Burt.

The Royalists finished the half strongly with Chennells and Smith threatening but they did not have to wait long to double their lead when Parsons netted three minutes after the interval.

Youth team product Matt Mooney was replaced by Adam Dickens and he had an immediate impact after his corner was half cleared by Zayne Simpson but it was returned with interest by Parsons from the edge of the box.

Windsor thought they had added a third after Chennells beat the keeper to the ball but the referee adjudged the striker to have fouled Dempsey.

The visitors finished on top as Chennells burst clear but could not beat the keeper and Smith went close again.
