AN EXCELLENT point was earned by Windsor & Eton on Wednesday night as they drew 1-1 at Frome Town.

The hosts made a bright start to the match but it was not long before the league leaders took control.

However, the Royalists fell behind in unlucky fashion as Luke Ballinger's shot took a wicked deflection in the 28th minute to beat Rob Bullivant against the run of play.

Frome worked their socks off to try to keep Windsor at bay and were again terrific at the back, like they were during the goalless draw at Stag Meadow earlier in the campaign, with central defender Jamie Cheeseman to the fore.

Eventually the deserved equaliser arrived when substitute Adam Dickens picked out a superb pass to release Gavin Smith to finish neatly.

Manager Keith Scott commented: "We were excellent last (Wednesday) night.

"The lads came out after the break and took the game to them big time, they raised the bar again.

"There was only going to be one winner when we equalised but it was a very good point.

"Frome are a difficult side to beat, very well organised and can catch you on the break. I think they will be in the play-offs. It's a great result, we've taken four out of six points from midweek trips to VTFC and Frome which is excellent. We were absolutely top class."
