WINDSOR & Eton's run of 10 consecutive league wins came to an end at Berkshire rivals Thatcham Town on Saturday in a goalless draw.

Despite the scoreline, and the Royalists not being at their best, it was an entertaining encounter with some decent football played.

Ex-Windsor striker Adam Wallace was denied by keeper Rob Bullivant who had a good game.

However, so did his opposite number, Paul Strudley who proved to be in top drawer form, first thwarting the dangerous Michael Chennells with a stunning save midway through the first half.

Dean Stow went close after the break but was dealt with by Bullivant but at the other end Chennells proved to be a thorn in the side and should have scored late on with a header, only to place it straight at the keeper.

"It's always a tough game against Thatcham," confirmed boss Keith Scott.

"It's a big pitch and they are not a bad side that have picked up recently.

"They were up for the game, they were my dark horses for the play-offs and I still think they can be there, we knew it would be a tough game."

However, the manager was delighted with the effort put in by his side, he said: "We were exceptional, the performance and spirit was excellent. Both sides had chances to win and both keepers made some good saves so it was probably a fair result."
