Adam Wallace in his Windsor days.

KEITH Scott is hoping the curse of the old player won't come back to hurt them on Saturday.

Adam Wallace could not get a start at Windsor this season but has been on fire since his switch to Thatcham Town, scoring eight goals in his last eight appearances and four in his last two.

Thatcham were a quality outfit before he joined and are still a side to be reckoned with, chasing one of the play-off spots.

"Thatcham are a good side and have done well against us recently," commented boss Keith Scott.

"There's only been the odd goal in it. All the games we've played against them will be close and we will certainly not be going there thinking we are going to win.

"Thatcham will want to be the first team to beat us, but we always know it will be a tough game.

"Adam Wallace is scoring goals and will want to score again on Saturday."

Thatcham assistant manager, Paul Hunt, confirmed that despite an approach from fellow promotion hopefuls Gosport Borough that the ex-Windsor hitman was staying put for the time being.

He said: "Adam decided to stay put which is a massive boost.

"He's a big player for us as he scores goals and also holds it up really well.

"I'm sure he's got a point to prove against his old club and will be raring to go.

"But all the players are really up for the game. Windsor are top of the table and unbeaten this season and there's no bigger incentive than that as we want to be the side that ends that record.

"The pressure is off us so we can go out and just give it a real go. We're unbeaten in seven games ourselves and are playing good football and are full of confidence.

"We don't concede many and are a hard team to break down once we go in front, while they've obviously got the biggest budget in the league and have a couple of really good forwards so it should be a really cracking game."

Windsor manager Scott added that his team were committed to carrying on their 24 game unbeaten run in the league.

He said: "The players know what they have to do. They know that they have to go there and put in a performance. They know that every side wants to be the first to beat them.

"We will get beaten if we don't concentrate and focus on our game."

One bookmaker had Thatcham at odds of 5 to 1 to win this Saturday's game, but that stunned the Windsor boss.

"I think the bookmakers are being a little bit generous there," he added.
