Michael Chennells scored from the bench

Football

TEN man Windsor & Eton left it late to record their ninth league victory in a row as they saw off local rivals AFc Hayes 1-0.

Michael Chennells came off the bench to net the only goal of the game in the 79th minute before Matt Seedel was given his marching orders at the death.

The home side had more possession but the first chance fell to Hayes when Tom Lees crossed for Jake Lovell to head wide.

Windsor replied immediately, Scott Thomas' shot was deflected just wide and Nathan Jack and Ryan Parsons went close.

Jack and Marcus Richardson threatened before Windsor won a penalty in the second half when Richardson was brought down after neatly collecting a Bruce Wilson free-kick but Seedel's spot kick was saved by Aaron Burton.

Wilson then had an effort well saved and Jack drilled across goal as it looked like it might be one of those days, especially when Craig Tomkins seemed certain to score from a corner for AFC Hayes but he was denieds by Rob Bullivant.

Steve Butler was denied from a Thomas free-kick and then the wide man found substitute Chennells but he was thwarted.

Eventually the breakthrough arrived as the impressive Thomas picked out Chennells who cut inside and finished off the inside of the post.

However, Windsor did suffer a late blow when Seedel was sent off for an elbow on Vince Rispoli and Jake Lovell was perhaps fortunate not to receive the same punishment for kicking out at Ryan Wharton, only getting a yellow.
