KEITH Scott's Windsor & Eton travel to Eynsham Hall Park, the home of North Leigh, on Saturday looking to continue breaking recent history, writes Robert Stevens.
The goal conceded last weekend against Hungerford Town was the first in 745 minutes, or, just over 12 hours of football, breaking a run of seven consecutive clean sheets and the previous record of four set in the 1999-2000 season.
The club are now unbeaten in 13 games in all competitions and will equal the longest recent unbeaten run of 14 set in the 2003-04 season if they can avoid defeat.
The 5-1 thumping of Hungerford was repayment to the small band of fans that spent five hours forking the pitch at Stag Meadow to get the game played. On the scoresheet was new signing Nathan Jack, a recent acquisition from AFC Totton.
Fans can expect a feast of football as two of the league's top goal scorers go head-to-head. Leaders Windsor have scored 48 goals in their 21 games and North Leigh have netted 40 times in 18 matches.
However, Mark Gee's side have also conceded 42, compared to Windsor's 11, and currently find themselves in 16th position.
"North Leigh gave us a scare earlier in the season, went one up and then missed a penalty but we ran out winners," remarked Scott.
"On their day they are a good side and can compete with the top teams in this league.
"It's not an easy game and a difficult place to go. We will have to show the same attitude and commitment that we did against Hungerford.
"Everybody is fine apart from Adam Dickens but he has started training now, we need to get a game into him as soon as possible."
Though North Leigh have not played since losing 5-2 at Bishops Cleeve on Boxing Day, the Millers' recent run of results has been poor. They have only managed to win one of their last nine matches, including six defeats, and have lost three of their last four at home.
However, when they win, Gee's team do it in considerable style. In November, they came from 3-1 behind to beat AFC Hayes 6-4 at Farm Park and put eight past Bracknell Town during a home victory in October.
The Royalists have won all three of the previous meetings between the two clubs, scoring eight goals and conceding just once. Striker Michael Chennells has netted three times in his last two games against the Oxfordshire side and will be looking to get closer to his 100th goal for the Royals, as he currently sits on 93.
On Wednesday evening the holders of the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup face a massive test in the form of Wycombe Wanderers with a 7.45pm kick-off in what is sure to be a cracking quarter-final.
