MATT Seedel is determined to help right the wrongs of last season and inspire Windsor & Eton to title glory.

The Royalists went 18 games unbeaten in Southern League Division One South & West last season after a stuttering start, but they eventually missed out on promotion after losing to Didcot Town in the play-offs.

So far this season Windsor are unbeaten in the league and top the table by 11 points, but title rivals AFC Totton do have three games in hand.

"It's going as well as it can be," stated Seedel, who is a believer that points on the board are much better than games in hand, especially with the current cold snap forcing postponements galore to the fixture list.

"We're 11 points clear but Totton have got games in hand and if they win them it will be only two points," he added.

"But they have got to win those games and the way things are going at the moment it will be harder for them because they'll be playing Saturday, Tuesday, Thursday. We are in the driving seat."

However, he did have a warning for his team-mates. "We went on a run of unbeaten games last year at about this stage but threw it away in the end. We don't want to do that again," remarked Seedel.

"I think the last 10 games last season we were rubbish.

"From where we are now, we wouldn't want to finish anywhere apart from first, especially after last season.

"This season we are stronger as a team and hopefully this time around we will see it through.

"We are going well and have got a good bunch of lads who work hard for each other.

"Even when we go behind we've come back to win games, last season we wouldn't have done that.

"A lot of the lads have got better this season as well like Jake (Parsons) and Joe (Chandiram). They have been excellent."

The midfield enforcer added: "I like playing with Bruce (Wilson) in midfield. You know what you are going to get from him, he will work hard and I will work hard as well.

"I'm just a Steady Eddy. I'd like to beat what I scored last season and I'd have scored more than the other guys if I'd have been playing up front this season," quipped Seedel, who found the back of the net 13 times in the last campaign and has five to his name this time around.

"These breaks don't help though. When you are going well you just want to carry on playing," explained the 28-year-old.

"We've trained a few times and I think we were the only team to play Boxing Day and New Year's Day which was good.

"There's going to be a lot of big games in January and February and by the end of February we will see where we are.

"It's a shame the Frome and Taunton games were called off because that means a midweek trip now, it makes a difference.

"Working all day, and I've got an active job, then three hours on the coach before having to play isn't ideal, but I suppose it is the same for everyone."
