KEITH Scott hailed Windsor & Eton's unbeaten start to the league campaign as 'unbelievable' as they head into the New Year top.

The Royalists are yet to taste defeat in their 19 league matches to date, winning 15 of them, and are eight points clear of nearest rivals AFC Totton who do have two games in hand on them.

"It's unbelievable, it really is," commented Scott. "All credit goes to the players.

"To go 19 games unbeaten at any level in the world of football is tough to do.

"I feel this is a very competitive league as any team can beat anybody - Taunton drew with Totton and Bedfont won at Paulton Rovers recently. Anything can happen so to remain unbeaten for 19 games is fantastic and if we look at the teams we've played as well, all but VT FC, that makes the run stand out more - but that is a big but."

However, the boss knows they will have to keep that run going if they are to keep their title bid on track.

He said: "We are eight points clear but AFC Totton have two games in hand and if they win them then they will be just two points behind us so we have to keep it going.

"Although 19 games unbeaten is fantastic we have to keep it going."

And the Royalists supremo warned against complacency: "I said to the players 'don't think it will be easy, all the teams will want to be the first to beat you'."

Next up for Windsor is a New Year's Day match at home to Uxbridge (3pm kick-off), weather permitting.

"I'm hoping it goes ahead, I heard that the weather might be turning on Saturday and we play on Friday," remarked Scott.

"Jim (Melvin) and I went to watch Uxbridge play against Hayes (which Uxbridge won 2-0) after our game on Saturday. I expect any team we play against to raise their game.

"I don't expect any easy games, I expect any team we play against to raise their game.

"Uxbridge have put in some good performances and results in their last six or seven games. They usually play a 4-4-2 or they might do what they did last year against us and come with a 4-5-1.

"Michael (Chennells) took a knock on the knee against Bedfont but should be okay, hopefully it's just bruising. Adam Dickens is still a couple of weeks away but is the only long term doubt."
