THE Slough Jets have strengthened their squad with the capture of experienced Elite League player Slava Koulikov.

Having released James Knight, the Jets have bolstered the team with the exciting addition of the 31-year-old Russian born forward from Hull Stingrays.

Head coach Pete Russell commented: "It's not every day that players like Slava are available so I am delighted to have got him, he is a strong addition to our team. Slava has skill to burn and can make things happen on the ice. When I knew he was interested in coming I knew I had to make it happen.

"I believe we needed another skilled forward and hence my reasoning for making the change. We have a lot of power in our team and another highly skilled guy like Slava will only make us a stronger all-round team."

He added: "It is never an easy thing to do to release a player from any team but I've released James Knight from his contract with the Slough Jets. As head coach it's my responsibility to put out the best all round team that will complement each other in all areas and I feel by making this tough decision I can push towards achieving this."

Koulikov commented: "After talking to Pete about Slough and his team, I knew it was the move I realy wanted to make. I believe I am joining a team with a lot of really good players on it, and I will do all I can to add to it.

"The guys all want to win and so do I. They have made a solid start to the season and I can't wait to get down to Slough and become a part of it."
