A JET propelled start to the season the Slough Jets begin with a fantastic double victory.

They destroyed local rivals Bracknell Bees 9-0 on Saturday and then won at the treble winnning Peterborough Phantoms on Sunday.

"I used to play here years ago and it was jammed, hopefully we can get a lot more in," commented Russell after the massive local derby win. "I'm sure most people would have enjoyed what they saw. It was a bit one sided but if they were from Slough, they would have enjoyed it."

However, he is remaining cautious despite their flying start.

"We will see what happens, I don't go round shouting my mouth off but we have got a really good hockey team," said Russell.

"We will try to do the best we can and if you ask me after 15 games then I might have a better answer for you. I don't look at a league table until after 12/15 games.

"Once it gets to there you can see what's going on but there's always someone who starts fast and falls. Hopefully that's not us but I do want to start fast.

"We've got a really tough first 10 games but we've got to play them. We have got no fear, as long as we keep the mentality and the approach right then we will be okay.

"In any sport if you get the right approach and mentality then you can do well in any game. We've got the ability and we got the approach right so we just need to keep that going. If we play that level then we've definitely got a chance going into any game we play.

"We've got five great imports and it's great to have that many because people will miss games for different reasons."

However, they did roll Bracknell over with considerable ease on Saturday.

"Not every game will be like that, it will be a lot tougher," warned Russell. "You've got to be sure of your mindset and play in the right way, and we were tonight, we never gave anything away.
