MAIDENHEAD Rugby Club opened up a four point lead at the top of South West One East with a narrow 18-12 win over Swindon at Braywick Park on Saturday.
Ricky Khan's men have raced into a narrow lead at the top of the division thanks to a nine match winning streak that they bid to build on with a trip to Witney on Saturday before hosting basement boys Olney on February 4.
SLOUGH RFC's battle against relegation took another blow after a crushing 66-24 home defeat to Milton Keynes left them five points adrift of safety in Southern Counties North.
Paul Rendall's side now face a difficult trip to Aylesbury on Saturday (2:15pm), a team they have already lost to twice this year, before a 'six-pointer' at Upton Court Park against fellow strugglers Wallingford on February 4.

The defeat, only Windsor's second of the season, leaves them seven points behind Grove in a competitive title race where the division's top five sides all have real chances of being crowned champions.
However, it is a two-club race in the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Premier Division with Farnham based DRIFTERS RFC and their Berkshire rivals Thatcham pulling 10 points clear of third-placed Chipping Norton.
Drifters' remarkable season continued on Saturday with a 45-15 victory at Littlemore, their 12th consecutive win, and will bid to make it lucky number 13 against Stow-on-the-Wold at One Pin Lane on Saturday (2:30pm).
Finally, confidence levels in PHOENIX RFC's camp will have dropped after a heavy 63-10 home defeat to Bicester leaves them second from bottom and four points adrift of safety.
The Taplow-based clubs battle against the drop does not get any easier over the coming weeks with their next three fixtures all against sides in the top half of the table, starting with Chipping Norton away on Saturday (2:30pm).
