Action from the thriller involving Windsor under-14s

Rugby

THE 61st Windsor Schools Sevens was heralded as one of the best and saw a changing of the guard.

Last year's champions, Royal Grammar School from Wycombe made it through to the final where they were hammered by The Oratory School from Woodcote, 47-7 who were presented with the Ken Morley Memorial Trophy.

There was local joy as well though as the Plate competition was won by Eton College who beat St Benedict's School 55-0 in the final.

Eton beat Henley's second team 57-14 in the quarter-finals and overcame Berkhamsted School 38-5 in the semis before the triumphant final.

Organiser Dave McKinlay said: "In the opinion of most of those watching, this was one of the best Windsor Schools Sevens tournaments ever.

"The rugby was breathtaking at times, the event ran like clockwork and even the weather played its part."

Windsor under-14s were involved in a thrilling 22-22 draw with Newbury in the Berkshire Youth League.

Ben Grant-Adamson kept his nerve to kick a late penalty to tie the scores with tries coming from Cameron Crawford, Fraser Scanlan and Kay Kay Ndwere.

The result sets Windsor up for a winner tales all clash with Maidenhead at the end of March.
