IN DREADFUL conditions Windsor under-14s B team ground out a 5-0 victory over Marlow on Sunday.

Marlow were quicker out of the blocks and for the first 10 minutes put the Windsor pack under a bit of pressure. The rain and cold did not allow for a free flowing running game with each side conceding numerous penalties for accidental knock-ons.

Windsor rallied and for most of the remaining half they were camped deep inside Marlow territory.

The forwards were winning plenty of ball with fine performances from Jack Evans and Liam Stirk and this almost paid off when a neat move started by Charlie McAlister saw Ben Moore cross the try line but unfortunately the officials did not have a clear view and the try was not given.

Undeterred the boys came straight back on the attack and pressed Marlow all the way until the half time whistle.

The second half saw numerous changes to the Windsor team and again Marlow piled on the pressure but some great defending and tackling from the backs stopped them in their tracks.

Windsor started to counter attack with some aggressive running from Charlie Sturt and this eventually led to Windsor winning a scrum five metres from the Marlow line. Another mighty effort from the pack allowed Sean Paul Mackenzie to pick the ball up at the rear of the scrum and charge over their line to score a well deserved try and they held on for a deserved win.
