Mighty Maidenhead youngsters win

A STRONG second half performance enabled Maidenhead under-13 Bs to run out 20-12 winners in a tough, enthralling match at home to Chinnor Bs on Sunday.

The visitors started stronger, particularly in the pack, and scored first after pressure near the home side's line, converting well with a long kick.

Maidenhead, superior in the backs, narrowed the score with a try in the far corner by David James.

Chinnor ran in another try from close range but the hosts responded swiftly, moving the ball sweetly down the line for Seb Cooper to score another in the left corner.

After the break Maidenhead rallied, with fine tackling from Nick Burnage and good all-round play from Ollie Murply. A burst of excellent supporting runs from Maidenhead's forwards set up a try by Adam Becksmith to put the home side ahead.

The hosts then sealed a deserved victory against worthy opponents when Becksmith put on a fantastic burst of speed to run across the pitch and score his second.
