SOPHIE Barnett has high hopes of keeping the Windsor Dames’ name on the National Junior Plate in the New Year.

Windsor first won the plate last season with a 50-12 win against Rugby Lionesses in Lichfield.

The Dames are away to Chipping Sodbury on Sunday February 5 in the next round of the competition this term and Barnett is optimistic for a win.

The Windsor captain told the Observer: “Chipping Sodbury are not doing too well in their league so I’m quite hopeful we’re going to stay in the plate, and hopefully we can retain our title.

“Probably our main aim for the rest of the season is to keep our name on the silverware.”
