STEVE Moria is relishing the challenge of being underdogs as the Slough Jets play treble chasing Peterborough Phantoms in the semi-finals of the play-offs in Coventry's Sky Dome tomorrow (Saturday).

The Jets will have to do it the hard way if they are to defend their play-off title as they come up against English Premier League and Cup champions Peterborough with Milton Keynes Lightning or Guildford Flames awaiting in Sunday's showpiece final.

"Peterborough is the team this year, they've had an incredible season," said Moria.

"They are making a big attempt to win three trophies this year.

"They have been the team we have struggled against, losing five out of six but it's exciting.

"We know their strengths. They've got a lot of great scoring forwards in their team but over the last couple of weekends our defence has played superbly, with a little bit more grit and determination which has really boosted the club.

"Our defence has been our success over the last couple of years. I expect them to play big and on the offence we will create chances and have shots on goal, it is just a matter of whether we can score."

A bullish Moria added: "I'm very confident. We are going into it as underdogs but I know every one of our guys will be going into the weekend knowing we can win the hockey game.

"The play-offs are a different kettle of fish, you need to step up and it's much more intense. We've got a lot of big game players who will step up to the plate."

The Slough Jets face the Peterborough Phantoms in the semi-finals of the play-off championship.
