Discoteca wins the feature race at Windsor Racecourse's final meeting of the season

DISCOTECA danced his way to victory in the feature Toteexacta Handicap at Windsor Racecourse on Monday.

The 9-2 favourite (fav) was ridden to take the lead over a furlong from home by jockey Jimmy Fortune and just prevailed from 15-2 chance Vimiero by a short-head with 10-1 shot Broughtons Paradis a neck behind in third.

Andrew Balding's charge was winning his second race of the season at the Royal Berkshire track having previously landed a maiden by four lengths in April.

Leading trainer Richard Hannon landed his eighth Windsor winner of the season when 8-1 chance Beach Candy won the supporting Nursery by a short-head from 11-1 shot Dressed In Lace and Poker Hospital at 15-2.

The daughter of 2,000 Guineas winner Footstepsinthesand could make a quick re-appearance in the Jack Nolan 10th Anniversary Nursery at Doncaster on Saturday.

Sandfrankskipsgo stayed on well to lead inside the final 100-yards and was well in command at the finish when winning the opening Maiden Stakes.

The well-backed 7-1 chance beat 5-4fav Blanc De Chine by three quarters of a length with 9-2 shot Art Show five lengths back in third.

Scarlet Rocks (11-1) was never in danger of losing the Claiming Stakes and ran-out a two and three quarter length winner from 10-1 chance Aye Aye Digby and 100-30fav Retainer.

It was the three-year-olds fifth run of the season at Windsor having previously finished third, second, fifth and fourth in Handicap company.

The 10 furlong Totepool Handicap was won by 17-2 chance Librettela by a head from 40-1 long-shot Beggers Belief and 20-1 outsider Woop Woop.

Finally, 16-1 outsider Doncosaque claimed the concluding Ben Woollacott Handicap by a length and a half from 17-2 chance Push Me and 11-1 shot Rock Anthem.

It was the five-year-old's very first victory on turf and he could re-appear in the Apprentice Handicap at Doncaster on Saturday.

The meeting wraps up the 2011 season at Windsor Racecourse with racing set to return to the Berkshire track on April 2012.
