FULL TIME Windsor 1 (Chennells 85) - 2 Wembley (Atkins 10mins, Shelton 42)

Windsor FC's title challenge looks all but over after a 2-1 home defeat to Wembley, their second loss in just three days.

Keith Scott's side were twice punished for tame defending in the first-half, firstly when Atkins headed home from a corner inside the opening 10 minutes, and two minutes before the break when Shelton riffled home after a long throw was flicked on at the near post.

Ben Porter should have equalised midway through the opening period, a chance that had it been taken, may have altered the course of the match.

Windsor huffed and puffed in the second half and deserved to get on the socresheet when Chennells bundled over on the goal line late on.

But the hosts never really looked likley to produce enough to salvage anything from the game and restore their title challenge.

The evening also ended on a sour note when officials at Stag Meadow moved quickly to turn off the floodlights when the visitors were celebrating what has to be described as a deserved win.

9:36pm

Wembley goalkeeper again does well to tip over Chennells looping effort from the edge of the box.

9:33pm

Game now into injury time

9:32pm Wembley sub

Gary Linton replacing Atkins.

9:31pm

Low booked for a foul on Romeo on the touchline.

9:30pm

Three minutes plus injury time remain and Windsor have a corner.

9:27pm Windsor 1 (Chennells 85) - 2 Wembley (Atkins 10mins, Shelton 42).

Chennells scrambles the ball home to give Windsor slim hope of salvaging a point.

Unfortunate to concede the Wembley goalkeeper made a couple of decent saves before Chennells poked home on the goal line.

Wembley sub: Dean Linton replacing Shilton

GOOOOAALLLLL!!!!

Windsor 1 - 2 Wembley

9:23pm

10 minutes remaining

9:22pm

Windsor continue to dominate second half posession as Chennells pokes narrowly poast the post from the spot.

9:18pm

15 minutes remain

9:14pm Wembley sub

Eoun replaces Mitchell.

Ryan O'Toole forces another smart diving stop from the Wembley keeper with a decent strike from the edge of the box.

9:12pm Windsor sub

Ryan Ashe replacing Adam Dickens in a straight swap in the centre of midfield.

Yashwa Romeo is the centre of Windsor's attacking trio with Chennells and O'Toole either side.

9:11pm

20 minutes left for Windsor to score at least twice and, to be honest, it looks very unlikely.

9:07pm

Windsor stopper Rob Bullivant keeps his side in the game with an outstanding diving save to his right to deny Atkins powerful effort after the forward broke free down the left.

9:05pm

The second half is beginning to lose the tempo to which is began with Windsor looking increasingly unlikly to salvage anything from the contest.

9:02pm

Windsor sub: debutant Phelan is replaced by Yashwa Romeo,

Phelan has huffed and puffed and had a half-chance or two but it has not been an overly impressive first performance in a Windsor shirt.

9pm

Andrew Fagan, this time, force the visitors stopper into a smart stop with a header from inside the box.

8:58pm

Phelan blasts wide from the edge of the area as Windsor continue to press for a goal.

8:53pm

Phelan heads Elliss' long throw from the right well wide as Windsor begin the second half far brighter.

8:51pm

Ryan O'Toole drives a free-kick from 25-yards into the wall and Dickens forces the Wembley stopper to tip[ over his smart volley from the rebound.

8:47pm

Windsor FC coach Jim Melvin could be heard screaming at his players at half-time and let's hope the message has sunk in!

8:48pm SECOND HALF KICK-OFF

HALF TIME: Windsor 0 - 2 Wembley (Atkins 10mins, Shelton 42).

Windsor FC's title challenge is withering as Wembley twice punish poor defending to take a two-goal lead into the break.

The visitor's dangerman Daryl Atkins headed them in front inside 10 minutes, a free header from a corner from the right.

Ben Porter should have equalised for the hosts when smashing against the crossbar from six yards.

And Paul Shelton punished the midfielder for the miss three minutes before the whistle with a volley from inside the box after a long throw was all too easily flicked on at the back post.

Windsor will now need a Molesey like comeback to get anything from this game.

Windsor 0 - 2 Wembley (Atkins 10mins, Shelton 42).

Shelton bursts into the box and volleys home from six yards after a long throw from the right was flicked on all to easily at the front post.

GGGOOOOAAALLLL!!!

Windsor 0 - 2 Wembley

8:26pm

O'Toole's forces another stop out of the keeper after good link up play with Phelan.

8:24pm

Chandiram bursts through the midfield and fires a powerful drive straight at the Wembley stopper.

8:22pm

Pont shots wide of Bullivants right hand post on the half-volley after more good work from Atkins.

8: 20pm

10 minutes of the first half remaining and the hosts look like they will finish the period the stronger.

8:16pm

Wembley stopper has to get down quickly and low to his right to palm away Ellis' cross come shot from the right, only the second time he has had to make a save this evening.

8:13pm

Young Windsor-based midfielder Robert Lazraczuk continues to catch the eye with a number of smart ttouches and intellegent passes as the hosts look to find a leveller.

8:09pm

Windsor miss the chance to equalise as Porter blasts Chennells through ball from the right against the crossbar.

Phelan puts the ball into the net shortly after but is clearly off side.

8:06pm

Midway through the first half and Wembley look decent value for their narrow lead. Moving the ball slightly better as Windsor continue to try and force their possession up to the front trio.

8:03pm

Windsor's first effort on goal as Chennells heads tamely to Amaegae.

8:01pm

The early goal has bred confidence into the visiting side while Windsor look slightly rattled and are trying to force the play too much.

Windsor 0 - 1 Wembley (Atkins, 10 mins)

Atkins allowed a free header inside the six yard box from a corner from the right and gives Windsor stopper Bullivant no chance of stopping. The danger man strikes!

GGGOOOOAALLLLL!!!!

Windsor 0 - 1 Wembley

7:54pm

The visitors look like they will test Windsor this evening with plenty of pace on both wings and up front.

7:51pm

Even opening exchanges with Wembley creating the games first real chance. Windsor respond with O'Toole drilling wide of the goalkeepers right hand post from 20 yards.

7:49pm

Dickens booked for a cynical foul half way inside his own half. Bullivant gets down well to push Shelton's header from the resulting free-kick around the post.

7:46pm

Windsor start with Phelan plating as the target man down the middle, O'Toole and Chennells eith side.

Laraczuk on the right and Porter on the left, with as suspected, three at the back, Fagan, Parsons and Ellis.

7:45pm KICK-OFF

7:44pm

Windsor till get the first half underway attacking the Park End.

7:42pm

Windsor sporting their usual all red kit while Wembley wear sky blue shirts and socks with white shorts.

7:41pm

Players make their way out onto the Stag Meadow pitch, which we come to expect now, looks like a billiard table.

7:37pm

What are people's thoughts on Windsor's starting 11?

Appears debutant Phelan will play as the target man with Chennells and O'Toole feeding off him as Romeo is, maybe a little harshly, dropped to the subs bench.

7:36pm

Both sets of players make their way back into the changing rooms to get their final orders from the management team.

Still no Jake Parsons on the wing and Kyle Anthony starts from the dugout after picking up a knock against Chessington & Hook United on Saturday.

7:30pm Wembley team news

Ini Amaegbe, Kristian Hale, Toby Webb, Coner Carroll, Chris Korten, Mitchell Pont' Ian Bates (c), Alex Low, Daryl Atkins (Observer danger man), Paul Shelton and Jumo Mitchell.

Subs: Gary Linton, Taiwo Edun, Dean Linton, Daniel Hailstones-Hopkins and Joel Bevis

7:24pm

A number of suprising changes made by Windsor boss Keith Scott tonight with Adam Dickens, Robert Lazarczuk and Leeyon Phelan coming into the starting line-up, the later making his full debut for the fledgling club.

Possibly prefering a 3-4-3 tonight with Fagan, Parsons and Ellis at the back with Lazarczuk, Dickens, Chandiram and Porter across the middle and Chennells up top with O'Toole and Phelan.

7:21pm Windsor starting line-up

Rob Bullivant, Andrew Fagan, Ryan Parsons (c), Adam Dickens, Chris Ellis, Leeyon Phelan, Robert Lazarczuk, Joe Chandiram, Michael Chennells, Ryan O'Toole and Ben Porter.

Subs: Fergus Moore, Ryan Ashe, Kyle Anthony, Dave Tilbury and Yashwa Romeo.

Good evening!

Good evening one and all and many thanks for tunning into the Observer's coverage of Windsor v Wembley.

Still awaiting team news as both sides go through their pre-match warm ups on a chilly February night at Stag Meadow.

WINDSOR FC must beat Wembley on Monday evening to salvage any remaining hope of winning the Combined Counties Premier Division title this season.

Saturday's defeat at Chessington & Hook United, coupled with leaders Guildford City's comfortable victory at Badshot Lea, has opened up an 11 point gap between the division's top two sides with a little over two months of season 2011/12 remaining.

Should Keith Scott's men win their two games in hand and beat the defending champions they will close the gap to just two points, but must also now rely on Guildford dropping further points before the sides meet at Stag Meadow on April 21.

Prior to Saturday's defeat Windsor have been in good form winning 10 of their last 12 games, including a Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy quarter-final, and producing a 15-match unbeaten run in the Premier title.

Midfielder Jake Parsons is expected to be named in the starting line-up after returning from injury as a substitute this weekend. Ryan Ashe is likely to be the man to make way in an otherwise strong midfield.

New signing Leeyon Phelan made his debut from the bench against Chessington on Saturday and is expected to start from the sidelines again with Ryan O'Toole and Michael Chennells the preferred attacking options.

Wembley currently sit 16th in the table but are within three points of a place in the top 10 after a 2-1 home victory over basement boys Mole Valley SCR on Saturday.

The Lions' only other recent win was a shock 2-1 victory against Guildford before freezing weather conditions forced a temporary abandonment of the Combined schedule.

Ian Bates' men have lost nine of their last 13 matches and were beaten 4-1 by Windsor when the sides last met in November. Yashwa Romeo, Ryan O'Toole and Kyle Anthony were all on the score sheet for Windsor that day.

Wembley's danger man will be striker Daryl Atkins who has netted 20 times in 23 league appearances for far this season, including a strike on the hour mark when Windsor visited Vale Farm.
