TRAINER Henry Candy and jockey Dane O’Neill combined for a 52-1 double at Royal Windsor Racecourse on Monday.

The pair first struck when Son Of Africa was a surprise winner of the opening maiden stakes. They then rewarded favourite backers as Spring Fling took a claiming stakes.

However, the feature prize remains in Berkshire with Lambourn-based trainer Clive Cox after his Perfect Cracker won a handicap over a mile and a quarter.

Perfect Cracker (10-1) was held up in midfield and went second over a furlong from the finish. Despite edging left in the closing stages, the six-year-old stayed on to lead in the last strides.

Red Warrior (5-1) was headed in the shadows of the post but finished a length and a quarter clear of Bobbyscot (6-1) in third position.

Course winners Starwatch (12-1) and Jupiter Storm (7-4 favourite) both failed to land a blow finishing sixth and last of the nine-runner field respectively.
