ONLINE bookmakers Unibet have announced a betting and gaming partnership with Royal Windsor Racecourse for the new season.

The sponsorship will see the multi-award winning sports book sponsor over 20 races at the Berkshire track, and be present on course throughout the year under a substantial racecourse branding initiative.

The partnership will see Unibet become the official betting and gaming partner to Royal Windsor and have them sponsor the Windsor Owners, Trainers and Jockeys Championship.

Unibet is one of the largest gambling operators, providing services in 22 languages to its 8.6 million customers in over 150 countries.

Unibet re-launched into the UK in May 2013 with a £3 million armchair expert integrated marketing campaign, with Sir Ian Botham, Gavin Hastings and Goran Ivanisevic as ambassadors.

During the last three months, Unibet have seen record numbers of depositing customers, racing turnover and active player levels. This trend is set to continue as its offers develop and they enter into more marketing partnerships this year.

Unibet will be offering numerous promotions and customer experiences to ensure visitors to Royal Windsor benefit from the partnership, as well as holding a special staff day for all their 200 Wimbledon employees, where they will be joined by their armchair experts.

Executive director of Royal Windsor Racecourse Stuart Dorn said: “We are delighted to welcome one of Europe’s leading online bookmakers as our partner to Royal Windsor Racecourse.

“We have an exciting season ahead of us, where we are looking to continue the development and engagement of the course.

“Our partnership with a winner from the International Gaming Awards 2014, and one that intends to promote its product in 2014, will complement both parties positioning and aims for the next year.” Ed Nicholson, head of Unibet’s UK marketing operations, added: “Unibet is delighted to be associated with such a well respected and iconic racecourse. The partnership with Royal Windsor is one of many racing associations and marketing initiatives that we will be announcing in the coming weeks.” “With 26 meetings throughout the Summer, the partnership will provide us with an opportunity to talk to a targeted group of potential customers in Berkshire.

“Our aim in 2014 is to ensure that those who like to bet on horse racing are aware that Unibet have launched a new odds line, and have a comprehensive product that matches and exceeds our competitors.

“We would like this group to consider opening an account with us, and then to enjoy placing their horse racing bets with us on a regular basis.” **SEE Friday's Observer for all the latest sports news and action including an exclusive interview with horse racing photographer Sue Orpwood as she looks ahead to the new season at Royal Windsor Racecourse** **FOLLOW the Observer on Twitter at @Observer_sports**
