MAIDENHEAD United picked up a vital point in their fight against relegation from the Blue Square Conference with a 1-1 draw against promotion chasing Sutton United on Saturday.
The York Road draw keeps the Magpies seven points clear of the drop zone with a crucial 'six-pointer' at Eastbourne Borough up next on Saturday (3pm) before second placed Dartford visit Berkshire on February 4.
Sutton's appeals for a penalty kick were turned down by referee Stuart Butler inside the opening 60 seconds of the contest when Moses Odubajo appeared to be brought down by Bobby Behzadi.
And the visitors frustration grew when Manny Williams turned home Alex Wall's low cross from the right to put Maidenhead ahead in the sixth minute.
But the Magpies lead lasted just two minutes when Anthony Riviere slotted past goalkeeper Billy Lumley after a neat one-two with Joel Ledgister.
The higher-ranked side had a second penalty appeal turned down after the break when Harry Beautyman was brought down by Michael Pook's desperate challenge.
Maidenhead's opportunities were few and far between for the remainder of the contest but they held on for a much-needed point.
MAIDENHEAD will travel to Chesham United of the Southern Premier Division in the semi-finals of the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup.
