WINDSOR FC boss Keith Scott has described the club's decision to grant free entry to Stag Meadow over Christmas as a 'fantastic gesture.'
Windsor will be throwing the gates open to the public on Tuesday for their crucial Combined Counties Premier clash against promotion rivals Egham Town (1pm ko).
And Scott hopes that townsfolk will snap up the chance to watch their local team in action, without paying a penny.
The initiative is the brainchild of Windsor FC founding director Kevin Stott who believes it could boost the attendance to around the 500 mark on the day.
Speaking exclusively to the Observer, Scott said: "When Kevin Stott took over he put a together a committee of people who have connected with the club.
"Windsor is a true community club and this is their way of giving something back to local people. To offer free entry for everyone is a fantastic gesture, especially at this time of year.
"We hope as many people as possibly take advantage and come down to Stag Meadow to see what should be a terrific game."
Windsor FC are enjoying a superb run in the club's inaugural season following the demise of Windsor & Eton.
Scott, who led the now defunct Windsor & Eton to the Southern Division One South and West title in 2010, is working his magic at Stag Meadow once again.
His side currently sit second in the table just three points behind leaders Guildford City. And they have boosted their title chances of by luring ex-Royalists star striker Michael Chennells back to the club.
Chennells marked his return in sensational style last weekend by scoring five goals in a 10-0 demolition of Raynes Park Vale.
Now Windsor hope to make it five league wins in a row when they host Egham, who still harbour promotion hopes of their own.
Scott added: "Egham are eight points behind us with two games in hand. If they beat us they could go above us so it's a big game.
"Hopefully it will be an entertaining game between two very good sides and we would love to see plenty of people there.
"Egham is only half-an-hour away so we're hoping the people take advantage of the free entry."
He continued: "The greatest thing for any footballer is the atmosphere at a ground. I was lucky enough to have played in front of some big crowds in my time, and it is the most fantastic feeling. We had 239 through the gate last weekend and hopefully we will get a few more than that. If we can get a good crowd in our place next week, then I know the players will respond."
