KEITH Scott insists Michael Chennells brings far more than just goals to the Windsor FC team.

But on the evidence of last Saturday's 10-0 demolition of Raynes Park Vale, it is hard to see what else he needs to produce.

Chennells marked his Stag Meadow comeback by grabbing five goals in the one-sided victory that left Windsor just three points behind leaders Guildford City.

And if there is more to come from the 25-year-old hitman, then the Combined Counties Premier Division must be on red alert.

The re-signing of former Windsor & Eton assassin from Southern Premier side Brackley Town is a major coup for both the club and manager Scott.

Speaking exclusively to the Observer, Scott said: "He was very instrumental in us winning the championship with Windsor & Eton in 2010. He scored more than 100 goals for us back then. He also got 12 in the Southern Premier so he's proved he can do it at two levels higher.

"But he's much more than just a goalscorer. His work rate is fantastic and he's an all-round team player. He's a fantastic signing for us and I'm positive he will score a lot of goals.

"Along with Ryan O'Toole and Yashwa Romeo, we now have three strikers who bring three different qualities to the team."

Saturday's mammoth win certainly gave Windsor fans plenty of early festive cheer. Chennells started the rout when he opened the deadlock with a predator's finish 17 minutes in after Ryan O'Toole's effort had been saved by Dean Cupit.

O'Toole then netted a spectacular second less than a minute later with a sublime overhead kick from a Chennell's cross.

Raynes Park were already in disarray by the time Cupit palmed the ball into his own net while keeping out a Kyle Anthony header in the 27th minute.

Windsor could easily have been more than 3-0 up at the interval, but the floodgates certainly opened after it as the hosts rattled in another seven without reply.

Raynes Park changed their personnel at the interval, but within two minutes of the restart they were 4-0 down after O'Toole's incredible 35-yard strike.

Scott's men grabbed a fifth five minutes later when Leyiwola Lemoh turned a Ben Porter cross into his own net.

Romeo grabbed Windsor's sixth in the 58th minute with a terrific effort from 30 yards out before Joe Chandiram picked out Chennells who finished well from the edge of the area for the home side's seventh.

Two minutes after that Chennells completed his hat-trick from close range, with Chandiram claiming the assist again.

To their credit Raynes Park, now 8-0 down, did force Ryan Parsons to clear off his own line from a corner, but Windsor were not finished there as Chennells made it 9-0 with a cool finish in the 78th minute.

And it was fitting that Chennells should have the final say when he drilled in his fifth of the game in the last minute, to take Windsor into double figures for the second time this season.

A delighted Scott beamed: "The scoreline speaks for itself really. People would look at Raynes Park's position and say we should win, but not by that many. Some of the stuff we played was sublime.

"We put 11 past Banstead, we won 3-2 at Badshot Lea recently at should have scored more, and we could have scored five against South Park if it hadn't been for their goalkeeper.

"The difference on Saturday was that our finishing was exquisite. Ryan O'Toole scored one with an overhead kick and another from 35 yards. Yashwa Romeo also scored form outside the box and Michael Chennells got five.

"All five of Michael's goals were scored inside the 18 yards box, but we've also got the ability to score from outside the box.

"Our midfield played well and we also kept a clean sheet, so everyone played their part.

"But when you score 10 goals the strikers are bound to get the plaudits."
