Maidenhead United earn FA Cup replay during York Road party

MAIDENHEAD United boss Johnson Hippolyte insists his side still have 'nothing to lose' after a late Aldershot Town equaliser spoiled the York Road party on Saturday.
The magpies toasted 140 years at their home ground with an FA Cup first round tie against a professional outfit for the very first time and came with minutes of causing a shock upset.
After taking an early lead Maidenhead restricted Aldershot to just a few chances but their defence was breached 13 minutes from time to set-up a replay on November 22 at the Ebb Stadium.
"I am disappointed with the end result because their goal was a sloppy one to give away but I'm very proud of the lads," Hippolyte told The Observer.
Anthony Thomas fired the hosts into the lead in the seventh minute cutting inside from the left and brilliantly curling the ball inside the far post.
"They had lots of possession but our goalkeeper didn't really have a save to make," The Magpies boss continued.
As Town piled on the pressure after the break Alex Rodman ran at the heart of the defence and squared for substitute Michael Rankine to slot home from six-yards and break the hearts of the 2,200 strong home crowd.
"It just wasn't meant to be," Hippolyte added.
"It's going to be more difficult now going back to their ground but we've got nothing to lose and everything to gain."
The affects of the clash appeared to take their toll on Maidenhead as they suffered a dissapointing 2-0 home defeat against Blue Square Conference South side Hampton & Richmond Borough on Tuesday night.
