JOE Chandiram has switched from Windsor & Eton to local rivals Burnham because he wasn't 'enjoying the football being played'.
The left winger had played a pivotal part in the Royalists success of the past two season, finishing runners-up in the Southern League Division One South & West whilst winning the Berks & Bucks senior Cup before being crowned champions and earning promotion to the Southern Premier.
However, he has decided to move to Southern League Division One Central outfit Burnham.
"Obviously I've been at Windsor for two and half seasons and enjoyed it," said Chandiram.
"With all the changes that happened over the summer with regards the management stuff and players leaving it wasn't the same.
"I felt it was time for a change. I just wasn't enjoying the football being played during pre-season."
Manager Dave Mudge commented: "Joe missed the first couple of weeks of pre-season because of holidays. Maybe he does need a new challenge but to be honest the form Dave Pearce was in I was going to start the season with him.
"We would have loved to keep Joe Chandiram here so he could challenge himself at the level above but wish him all the best."
Chandiram added: "I know there has been a couple of things being said by Dave (Mudge) about the fact he thinks I left because Dave Pearce has signed. That couldn't be further from the truth.
"Dave (Pearce) is a great little player and was there last year but last season there was a lot more competition for places in terms of quality and that's a good thing.
"That wasn't the reason why I left.
"I said I wanted to give it a go at Windsor under Dave, he asked me to but I just didn't enjoy it down there having given him a chance.
"I was told there were players from Totton and Ashford Town signing who ended up not signing.
"I was being told stuff that wasn't the case, if there are one or two players who don't join it's understandable because things happen but when it's four or five you wonder.
"Like Will Dunlop who we were told had signed and now I'm here with him at Burnham.
"After last season and being told stuff that doesn't come to fruition you have to think about it."
Chandiram confirmed he had other offers at the step above but wanted to remain local and work under Jamie Jarvis. "I had a couple of approaches from other clubs at the same level as Windsor but spoke to Jamie (Jarvis)," he said. "They've got a great set-up, training facilities and ground at Burnham and I've heard very good things about the coaching.
"I would rather be at a club where they will play football and push to win things like Burnham. I've heard a lot of good things about the coaching down there."
