COOKHAM Dean rounded off a superb season as they secured the treble with a 2-0 victory over West Drayton in the Roy Lester Memorial Trophy final last Thursday.
The Division One Champions reached three cup finals and having already retained the League Trophy on penalties, produced the goods yet again.
Dean won in normal time this time and the result never looked in doubt after an action-packed opening few minutes which first saw West Drayton reduced to 10 men when Cookham's leading goalscorer James Gisbourne was brought down when clear through on goal. Although it looked like a case of mistaken identity when a West Drayton defender rather than the keeper was red carded.
However, Gisbourne took full advantage minutes later when he raced on to skipper Dean Knight's powerful header to flick the ball past the keeper to open the scoring.
Earlier Nathan Lishman nearly scored the goal of the season when his stunning 30 yard volley crashed off the crossbar and bounced just the wrong side of the goalline.
In the second half Cookham had a lot of possession but had few clear-cut chances but to their credit the young West Drayton side continued to press forward but lacked penetration to really trouble the Cookham defence.
The highlight of the match came midway through the second half when Lee Jerum was put through by Knight and raced to the byline to hit an excellent cross which was met superbly by the prolific Jamie Hanscombe with a powerful header which gave the Drayton keeper no chance.
Cookham saw out the rest of the game without too much trouble, with central defenders Dan Wilson and man of the match Lee Miles coolly snuffing out any hint of danger, with keeper Aaron O'Brien not really called into action.
Cookham's victory was all the more impressive considering it came at the end of a shattering period of six games in 11 days, including the League Trophy final just 48 hours earlier which had gone to extra time.
